The 2004 PECG Officers pictured left to right are: Joya Gilster, Section
President-Elect; Patti Bartoli, Section Treasurer; Shabbir Ahmed, Section
President; Mark Sheahan, PECG Corporate President; Tim Sharp, Section
Director.

The San Bernardino/Riverside PECG Section was awarded the " 2004 PECG
Section of the Year " at the PECG Annual Meeting held in Lake Tahoe on
October 9, 2004. Also at this meeting, with the prior approval from the
section officers, a motion was submitted by this section director, to the
Board of Directors, to agree to a section name change. This motion was
passed unanimously and the section name was changed from
San Bernardino/Riverside to the Inland Empire Section.

This section is one of 17 PECG sections statewide that represents 13,000
state-employeed engineers, architects, engineering geologist, landscape
architects, land surveyors, and related professional classes.

Some of the accomplishments and activities, of the Inland Empire Section,
that were recognized by the Corporate Nominating Committee was the
recruitment rate and maintaining of over 80% membership of unit 9
represented employees these past few years. Conducting at least 4 section
meeting per year with a average attendance of approximately 200+ at each
meeting. Submitting detailed and comprehensive quarterly reports to the
PECG Board of Directors.

Other annual activities include officers and members involved as judges at
the RIMS Science and Engineering Fair, volunteer builders in our local
Habitat for Humanity chapters, letter writing campaigns dealing with
legislative issues and volunteering in phone banking and precinct walking
in local election races. The section has been recognized for its generosity
to District 8 fund raisers and employee recognition events, new employee
orientation, FHWA design training, district golf tournaments and community
and state scholarship funds. We're recognized for our appropriately
generous retirement gifts and the section logo polo shirt giveaway as a
membership incentive along with the annual PECG picnics and lunches at our
meetings.

Over the past few years the Corporate Officers and Board of Directors have
looked upon this section as pro active and one that they can count on as
being consciences at board meetings, involved in legislative issues and
last but not least, dedicated to providing its membership with the most
effective representation.

Please visit our new section website at www.iepecg.org. This website come
to you through a lot of work and fore thought from your section officers,
especially Shabbir Ahmed. Continue to help them, help you, by accessing
this website.
